Site Changes

It's been a while since we have updated the website. So, SophSec decided that it's time once again for the annual website redesign. Our first goal was to better organize the content on the site, and then work on changing it's apperance. And man this gray theme is getting me down, definitely not sketchy enough.

The first major change to the site is user blogs for SophSec members. Not only can you read the main SophSec blog, but can focus on what individual members are ranting about:

Additionally we've added Atom RSS Feeds to the blogs. If you were subscribed to the old RSS feed, you will need to re-subscribe:

Hacker HipHop Track 2

published on 2009-05-21 00:00:00 -0700 by drraid

I finally finished another track - Nice Report. It's name and content basically come from the false sense of security given by a pentest/audit/advisory report. It also has abrasive lyrical assaults on the media's relationship with the infosec industry, as well as general disdain for script kiddies. My producer Conkrete did all the recording and mastering magic, and the beat was purchased from illbeatz.com. Hope you enjoy it. Lyrics are available here.

We're Going to ToorCamp

published on 2009-05-14 00:00:00 -0700 by postmodern

That's right you read correctly, we are going to ToorCamp, and I will be giving a talk there on Ronin.

Now some of you maybe wondering, how could a group who rarely updates their Blog, be giving a talk at a Hacker Camp in a Missile Silo? Well one's productivity is not proportional to how much you Blog. In fact, those of you with Twitter accounts are creating negative productivity.

The other contributing factors for us going to ToorCamp are:

  • Ronin has been developed on for around three years now.
  • We already had slides prepared.
  • It's in a fucking Missile Silo.

To the others who will be attending ToorCamp, we at SophSec highly recommend you also catch Chris Abad's talk on Analog Electronics and Functional Programming.

Code Explosion

Postmodern and Pierce are pimping up teh intertr0ns!

Pierce recently presented on his tool Seeds-of-Contempt at Viz-SEC, with awesome response from the masses. Seeds-of-Contempt provides a visual means of monitoring and attacking network traffic, as well as remote "resource management" functionality ;].

Postmodern Modulus III has publicly released the first version of Ronin, and now with docs. Having personally seen him present on the same documentation and demonstrate Ronin's capacity, I have to say the power Ronin puts at your fingertips for on-the-fly hacking is phenomenal.

ps. with these guys makin me look so bad, i'll have to finally finish someting cool to post here.

Hacker Hip Hop

published on 2008-06-08 00:00:00 -0700 by drraid

While we're finishing up some research content here at SophSec, I've decided to kick it up a notch by publishing a Hacker HipHop track. Big props to my good friend and producer Conkrete- he's seriously a top-grade musical composer and engineer, and I was lucky enough to have his beat and engineering for this track. The song is called clockwork and the lyrics for the track are available.

The music is distinguished hacker rap, not to be confused with nerdcore, and makes harsh statements addressed towards whitefat industry and skript kiddie culture. It has been nominated for best song at this years BlackHat Pwnie Awards (WOOT) and if I'm lucky, wins ;].
